How well a building expresses its intent depends on the fusion of its spatial and structural rhythm, the syntax of its spaces and, for eloquence, its details — ARTHUR ERICKSON
At Evelyn, the design process began with a careful study of the residential and community needs, as well as those of the client and any constraints, including the project schedule and budget, all of which is prerequisite information for effective architectural concepts and urban design.
Emphasis was placed on determining the role that the Evelyn development plays in relation to its environmental, historical, social and economic context.
This included careful site plan analysis, neighbourhood vision, topography and slope analysis, tree survey, preliminary use plan and building forms. Early on, issues and opportunities around sustainability were identified and a green design checklist was established.
